About Chef Michael Prete
About Chef Michael Prete
Chef Michael Prete is an award-winning chef and former restaurateur who has been featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Phantom Gourmet for his Portsmouth restaurant, The Kitchen.
A lifelong chef, Michael began cooking in high school and worked his way up from prep cook to Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director before opening his first restaurant in 2010. Today, he channels his decades of culinary expertise into weddings, private chef experiences, and corporate events across New England — offering creative menus rooted in local ingredients and impeccable service.
Beyond the kitchen, Michael is an internationally published food writer and is currently at work on his first cookbook. He lives on a 9-acre farm in New Hampshire with his wife, Stephanie, and their three sons — where many of the fresh ingredients featured in his dishes are grown.
